HRG - Current Advocacy Activities

We are committed to improving and expanding policies and programs that will help meet the affordable housing needs of those who want to live and work in Seattle. We advocate for support of critical housing needs through…

Housing Development Consortium

HRG, since its inception, has served in leadership positions at the Housing Development Consortium of Seattle-King County. Here HRG has worked in collaboration with other housing non-profits, local, county and state governments, elected officials and banks on policies and programs concerning; smart growth, Convention Center replacement housing, resources for affordable housing, property tax exemption, height and density, MUP process, neighborhood planning, light rail and monorail related development, tax credit policy, surplus property and zoning and community education.

Seattle’s 2002 Housing Levy

HRG played a leadership role on the citizen task force charged with setting the program priorities and determining how the $86M in Housing Levy funds would be spent.

Transit Oriented Development

We advocate for increasing zoning for affordable housing near public transit access through participation in community planning meetings hosted by Sound Transit and the Monorail Authority.

Downtown Seattle Association

HRG has been engaged with DSA, through committee activities, in addressing homeless services and housing at the Human Services Committee and downtown growth and affordable housing priorities at the Growth & Density Committee.

Metropolitan Improvement District

HRG serves on the Advisory Board of DSA’s Metropolitan Improvement District which provides safety, hospitality, cleaning, marketing, research and business development services to Seattle's urban core. This has included participation on Pike/Pine Task Force, and Denny Triangle Neighborhood and Freeway Park Neighborhood Associations.

HRG Residents

HRG provides information to its residents on housing issues that may affect them. Also, we are embarking on voter registration activities.
