Over the last two decades HRG has been
extremely effective through its partnerships with leading businesses and
other nonprofit service organizations in Seattle.
Harborview Mental Health Services – HRG has developed two
apartment buildings in collaboration with HMHS, providing 23 units for
people with chronic mental illness who are capable of living
independently.
Priscilla Bullitt Collins – As a longtime First Hill resident and
Seattle benefactor, Ms. Collins approached HRG with the offer to donate
her property to the east of her former family home, the Stimson-Green
Mansion. We immediately accepted her offer and designed and constructed
an award winning apartment building, Cascade Court, for large families.
Seattle Emergency Housing Services – HRG developed the Pardee
Townhouses on Capitol Hill to provide permanent homes for families
moving from shelters. HRG additionally provides apartments in Kingway
Apartments for SEHS families.
University of Washington - Virginia Anderson Internship – As a
founding member of the Board of Directors of HRG, Virginia has been a
leading proponent of affordable housing in Seattle. HRG has created a
unique internship program at the University of Washington’s Urban Design
and Planning graduate program. A graduate student with an interest in
affordable housing design and financing, will acquire practical
experience with HRG. The goal of this internship is to increase the
opportunity for students to gain from hands-on, real-life cases in
affordable housing development.
Virginia Mason Hospital and The Seattle Times – Each organization
owned surface parking lots in the First Hill and Cascade neighborhoods.
HRG was able to obtain these properties through donation or purchase at
below market value. On First Hill, HRG created 97 units for seniors over
a three level parking garage, a portion dedicated to employee parking
for hospital employees. In Cascade, The Seattle Times sold a parking lot
at a very reasonable price to create a 65-unit apartment building and
home to a Family Center on the first floor.
Washington State Convention and Trade Center – HRG has been
fortunate to collaborate with the Convention Center (under the
leadership of Chairman, Jim Ellis) in the replacement of housing
impacted by the initial Convention Center development and recent
expansion. Of the nine replacement housing projects partially funded
with grants from the Convention Center, HRG has developed or preserved
six buildings totaling 500 units.
